A third-generation North Philadelphia native, legislator, and coalition builder committed to making life better for Pennsylvanians.

Representative Malcolm Kenyatta is a third-generation North Philadelphia native currently serving in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. He earned a B.A. in Public Communications with a minor in Political Science from Temple University, an M.S. in Strategic and Digital Communications from Drexel University, and completed the Harvard Kennedy School’s Executives in State and Local Government program.

In 2023, he was appointed to chair the Presidential Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans. Throughout his career, Malcolm has focused on workers’ rights, voting rights, economic opportunity, and rooting out government waste and corruption.

Malcolm has consistently brought together legislators, labor, community leaders, advocates, and everyday Pennsylvanians around the idea that government should make people’s lives better. His work in public life has centered on expanding opportunity, strengthening democracy, and making sure working people are heard.

He lives in North Philadelphia with his husband, Dr. Matthew Kenyatta, and their dog, Cleo.
